The Workington Comets presented themselves to the press, media and fans on a extremely cold spring day yesterday
Even with the baltic conditions the Comets fans turned out in force to welcome the 2013 Comets and watch them get on the Derwent Park oval for the first time.

It has to be said that the track was in tip top condition thanks to the hard work by the track team considering the state of the track after a wet winter and all the refurbishment works at the stadium.

Most of the team had a good few run outs to test different set ups and lines, all of them looked fast and smooth.

Official Photographers were on hand and some of the pictures will be online in our gallery sometime soon.

Then in the evening, considering the cold weather, the Meet the Riders meeting had an excellent attendance and the fans got to welcome 6 of the Comets 7 and to have the chance to put questions to the riders and management.

There was an update from the promotion about Mason Campton and he is still expected
to be with us in the very near future hopefully in time for next Saturday.

All the riders spoke of their excitement and anticipation for the forthcoming season and we look forward to the challenge for the Number 1 spot!

Now we look forward to our Opening Meeting next Saturday where with a little bit of luck we can all welcome all 7 of our 2013 Comets
