Great Britain v Australia; at Derwent Park, on Saturday 17th August at 7:00pm
Three current Comets and two former Comets are among the fourteen riders named in the Great Britain and Australia sides to meet in the fourth test at Derwent Park on Saturday 17th August (7:00pm start).
The Comets skipper Richard Lawson, along with his team-mate Kyle Howarth and former Comet (and still the Derwent Park track record holder) Adam Roynon, are included within the Great Britain septet to take on the Aussies.
With Great Britain leading the series 2-1 after three tests (at Ipswich, Rye House and Sheffield) the outcome could well hinge on the match at Derwent Park. A victory for Team GB would clinch the five-match series, adding to the success of British teams over Australia this summer, while another win for Australia would make everything go down to the last test, which takes place at Newcastle's Brough Park the following day.
Meanwhile, the Aussies include long-serving Comet Rusty Harrison and former Comet Kevin Doolan in their seven-man side, while not forgetting the fact that locally-based one-time Comet turned engine tuner: Scott James, will be taking charge of the Aussie side due to the unavailability, on this occasion, of official team manager Mark Lemon.
While on the subject of team managers, Workington were the final club that the Great Britain team manager for the series, Phil Morris, rode for in 2009 before retiring with a persistent shoulder injury.
The teams line up as follows:
GREAT BRITAIN: 1 Richie Worrall, 2 Ashley Birks, 3 Josh Auty, 4 Adam Roynon, 5 Richard Lawson, 6 Andrew Tully, 7 Kyle Howarth. Team manager: Phil Morris.
AUSTRALIA: 1 Micky Dyer, 2 Rusty Harrison, 3 Dakota North, 4 Kevin Doolan, 5 Aaron Summers, 6 Max Fricke, 7 Hugh Skidmore. Team manager: Scott James.
