The Comets bad luck continued on Friday night when Simon Lambert suffered a broken hand at Coventry when guesting for Stoke in a National League fixture.
The Comets in-form reserve now joins Ashley Morris and Kyle Howarth on the injured list after breaking his hand in three places - ecven though he didn't actually fall off!
He reported to the Comets management that James Sarjeant locked up in front of him and his hand hit Sarjeant's rear wheel.
Simon finished the race in pain and a visit to the hospital showed three breaks, which may need an operation to wire it together.
Comets team manager Tony Jackson said: "I just cannot believe the bad luck we are having. This is terrible news for Simon and terrible news for us!
"As the lowest averaged rider in the side he can only be replaced by a National League rider which, with no disrespect to any of them, will not match the great form he has been showing since joining the club.
"With Kyle not fully recovered from his ankle ligament injury we needed Simon at reserve in the Fours on Sunday. But, as things stand right now we look set to line up at Peterborough without a reserve as we simply do not have enough fit riders left!
"Then, with the bulk of our league programme still to come and our combined team average significantly over the points limit, plus a lack of suitably averaged replacements we are certainly in a bit of trouble right now.
"Simon is hoping he can be back in action in two to three weeks but we should know a bit more within 48 hours.
"Injuries certainly seem to hit us every year and although they are part and parcel of the sport it does seem as if we get much more than our fair share!"
