Comets v Monarchs: Race Day Update
Sat 18 Oct 2014 by Comets Press Office
Extensive work has been done on the Derwent Park track to try and ensure that the meeting goes ahead this evening.
At the moment tonight's meeting against the Edinburgh Monarchs is definitely ON.

There is a slight chance of some rain later on this afternoon depending which forecast you look at. The track was VERY wet this morning but the 'sloppy stuff' has all been scraped off and the track lightly wonder-wheeled in order to allow the warm wind to dry what it can. At this stage we are feeling optimistic but will update you again should it look like the situation may change.

The Comets have Redcar's Aaron Summers replacing the injured Josh Grajczonek, while the Rider Replacement facility will operate for Rene Bach, who is competing at Zielona Gora in Poland for his Danish club side Esbjerg in the inaugural FIM World Speedway League Final.

Meanwhile, the Scotwaste Monarchs are operating Rider Replacement for Steve Worrall, whose partner is in labour, and have NL rider Max Clegg riding as a guest in place of their injured skipper Derek Sneddon.
