Comets reserve Joe Jacobs will have to miss Saturday's home meeting against Berwick due to illness.
Joe, who has been 'feeling under the weather' for several days informed the Comets promotion two days ago that he was struggling and was a major doubt for the weekend.

But, today he was forced to visit his doctor, who immediately ruled him out of action for this weekend, which also means that he is unable to represent Mildenhall in the National League Fours at Coventry on Sunday afternoon either.

In his place, with no Premier League riders under Joe's 4.07 average available, the Comets are using Glasgow-based Ryan MacDonald as a NL guest for Joe, as team manager Tony Jackson explained:

"Naturally we are disappointed that Joe is unfit to race, but the key thing is that he gets well as soon as possible and we wish him all the best with that and hope that he is back to his usual self very soon.

"There are no Premier League riders available in the country that fit Joe's average on Saturday night so we had no option but to use a National League guest for Joe.

"However, even that is not easy as with 32 National League riders needing to be at Coventry by 1:00pm on Sunday at the very latest for the National League Fours most of them were also unavailable purely because of the logistics of riding at Workington on Saturday night, getting their equipment sorted and then getting to Coventry in time - as most National League riders have a very small set up compared to their Premier League counterparts.

"But, with Ryan riding for Scunthorpe in the National League, who are the one NL side not riding in the National League Fours, and being based in Glasgow; it made him the obvious choice to help us out for what will be the third time this season.

"Additionally, we know that Ryan can ride Derwent Park quite well as his victory in the recent Northern Junior League Riders' Championship showed just four weeks ago! - so we would like to publicly thank Ryan for helping us out at very short notice."
