Last night's 'End of Season Presentation Night' saw the Comets announce their first signing for 2015 as well as the various Comets riders picking up their annual awards.
The Comets supporters that gathered in a packed 'Trades Hall' last night for the Workington Comets 'End of Season Presentation Night' were the first to find out that Australian rider Mason Campton would be returning for a second season as a Comet in 2015, having been forced to make a belated start to his Comets career in 2014.

Originally signed by the new Comets promotion at the end of 2012, Mason was forced to spend the 2013 campaign back home in Australia due to visa issues, which have had an impact on several Australian riders over the past two years.

However, having finally gained his visa to come to the UK in 2014 Mason has had to pick up the threads of his career after having to miss out on a crucial year of his speedway education.

But, with a full campaign behind him, he will return home this week safe in the knowledge that he can come back to the Comets in 2015 where he aims to really move his career forward.

Meanwhile, the Presentation Evening saw five current Comets and one ex-Comet named as award winners this year.

The award winners were:

Most Rider of the Night awards during 2014 - Rene Bach

Most Bonus Points scored in 2014 - Mason Campton

Most Improved Average in 2014 - Simon Lambert

The 'News & Star' Rider of the Year Trophy - Ricky Wells

The Colin Dickinson Memorial Shield for the Most Points (including Bonus Points) scored in Heat 15 of Premier League matches - Josh Grajczonek

The Mel Pettit Trophy for the Most Entertaining Rider - Josh Grajczonek

The Ian Thomas Memorial Trophy for services to Workington Speedway - Rusty Harrison
