Workington Comets have pulled off a surprise move and announced Kenneth Hansen as their second signing for the 2015 Season.
With team building for 2015 progressing well, the delighted and excited 27-year-old Dane broke the news on his facebook and twitter accounts.
Hansen said: "Not long ago I said I would not be signing a contract in the UK for the start of the 2015 season due to serious illness in my family. Now I can make two happy announcements; first is that things look a lot brighter in my family and second is that in 2015 I will ride for Workington in the Premier League, which I truly look forward to!"
Kenneth comes in on a converted 7.70 average and is the second announcement after Mason Campton was announced at the End of Season do.
Steve Whitehead, Co-Promoter said: "we are all really excited to bring Kenneth back to the Comets, where he started his UK speedway career, he is an accomplished and professional rider who has performed well at all levels in European Speedway and excelled for Coventry last season along side Kyle Howarth.
"We continue with our team building and hope to make some more announcements in the near future but everything is coming together nicely."
Fellow co-promoter and team manager Tony Jackson added: "I am delighted to welcome Kenneth back to Derwent Park as I regard him as 'unfinished business'.
"In my first season as a team manager, back in 2007, Kenneth was one of our first signings but, after a handful of matches he got injured and while he was out injured we re-introduced Carl Stonehewer to the side and the way the averages worked out we were unable to accommodate him on his return to fitness.
"That is something I have often hoped we could redress one day and now that opportunity has arisen, which is something I am pleased about not only on a personal level but also for Kenneth and the club.
"Since then Kenneth has developed into an exciting rider, which is just what the Derwent Park fans like, so hopefully both Kenneth and the Comets can have a good season in 2015."
Comets Owner, Laura Morgan added, "I am delighted to welcome Kenneth back to Workington, as I am sure all the supporters will also be. It's encouraging to hear how keen Kenneth is to be riding for Workington and I am sure he will become a valuable element of our team in 2015."
