The Workington Comets management are delighted to announce that Kyle Howarth is their seventh and final signing for the 2015 season.

Twenty-year-old Comets asset Kyle will be returning to Derwent Park for what will be a fourth successive season in Comets colours, and in doing so he completes the Comets winter team building. He comes into the side on his 2014 average of 6.57, fitting comfortably within the remaining points the club had available at their disposal within the 42.50 team building limit.

Club owner Laura Morgan said: “We are very pleased to have Kyle back with us for 2015, which I believe will be a very important season for him.

“Last season saw Kyle endure a frustrating campaign beset by a few niggling injuries; but when fit he showed what he is capable of and given an injury-free run next season he can really progress in his career, which will be great for him and the Comets.”

Manchester-based Kyle, who is currently enjoying a racing holiday in Australia, is regarded as one of Britain's hottest prospects for future honours in the sport, a fact recognised by Comets team manager Tony Jackson.

“Ever since Kyle first joined the club in 2012 we have regarded him as a special talent, as he has shown with his performances on many occasions,” said Jackson.

“Reputations don't bother him and he just wants to race and win, no matter who he is racing against. That was evident not just when racing for the Comets last year but also when he rode in the Elite League against world class riders, and his performances in the Elite League Grand Final really showed that he can beat anyone on his day.

“He has been unlucky with various injuries over the past year or so, but I firmly believe that if he can find that consistency required in the coming season then he can raise his average by a couple of points. If that happens he can certainly mount a serious challenge to take over the number one position in the Comets team during 2015.”

Howarth, along with Rene Bach, Mason Campton and Ricky Wells is the fourth member of last season's Comets side to return for 2015, where they will be joined by a trio of new riders; Kenneth Hansen, Nicki Barrett and Michael Palm Toft, all of them Danes, to complete the Workington Comets side for next season.

Club owner Laura Morgan is satisfied with the Comets winter team building but, like everyone else, she now must wait until they take to the track in March of next year to see how they perform.

“I am very happy how the team has come together and I feel that we have secured a solid top five who are all certainly capable of improving and raising their averages. Meanwhile, just as importantly, we also have the two reserve positions well covered with riders that can do the same,” she said.

“The riders all know each other and we believe that the riders we have signed will work well together, and that they will again create a good team spirit, which is always important in a sport such as ours once the season gets underway,” concluded Morgan.

The full Comets line-up for 2015 in order of their official season starting averages is: Kenneth Hansen (7.70), Rene Bach (7.64), Kyle Howarth (6.57), Ricky Wells (6.49), Michael Palm Toft (4.92), Mason Campton (4.66), Nicki Barrett (3.93); Total 41.91.
