The Comets management has confirmed that Danish rider Rene Bach will continue as team captain for the 2015 season.
Twenty-four year-old Rene will be coming to the tapes for his fourth successive season as a Comet, and his second as captain since taking over the role from Richard Lawson.
Comets team manager Tony Jackson said: “With a season as captain already under his belt Rene will continue to grow in the role having done the job last season; in what were often quite difficult circumstances as injuries and rained off matches took their toll on our momentum.
“Rene, who is of course a full Comets asset, is very professional in his outlook and really keen to win things with the club. Hopefully that enthusiasm can run right through the side and we can all have a good season.”
Comets owner Laura Morgan added: "There were times earlier last season when Rene got so engulfed in his own issues that from time to time he seemed to forget his duties as Captain but, as time went on, he matured into the role and was able to offer his team mates moral support and advice. Being a leader is not always a role that comes naturally to people and it can be a huge learning curve.
"Rene is a great team player and is always out of the pits gate to greet his team mates after a race. He has a very strong desire to win which is why he takes it so badly when things aren't going to plan! I have every faith that Rene will continue to progress in his role as Captain and lead the Comets wherever we are destined to be this year.”
