A busy day on Good Friday for the Comets riders - riding for everyone else!
Although the Comets are only riding on Saturday and Sunday over the Easter Holiday period the majority of the side are in action on Good Friday – either with their doubling-up club in the Elite League or as Premier League guests.

Good Friday is traditionally the busiest day of the year for fixtures - providing that the weather plays ball and inevitably there are barely enough riders to go round; which means that there are plenty of guest bookings available - all of which makes it a very nervous day for the Comets promotion, who can only sit and hope that everyone emerges from the day unscatehed!

FIVE of the Comets are due to be in action on Good Friday, with only Danish duo Rene Bach and Nicki Barrett not racing somewhere for someone!

Number one Kenneth Hansen is guesting at number one for Glasgow, in place of ex-Comet Richard Lawson, in their Spring Trophy fixture at Edinburgh.

Rusty Harrison is guesting in place of Kyle Newman for Plymouth at Somerset and young reserve Nathan Greaves is riding as a 'Fast-Track Guest' for Poole at Swindon on Friday evening.

Then, with Kyle Howarth riding twice for his Elite League club Swindon on Good Friday – home and away against Poole, and Ricky Wells riding for his Elite League parent club Wolverhampton at Belle Vue on Friday lunchtime, that completes the details of the five riders that are in action.

Team manager Tony Jackson said: “Naturally we will be keeping an eye on what is going on at all of the relevant meetings during Good Friday, but riding as a guest is part and parcel of the sport and unfortunately it is a very necessary evil.

"It gives the lads a chance to earn some extra money and, at this stage of the season, to get race-fit too. We can't really complain about our riders taking guest bookings as over the past few years we have probably used more guests than most other clubs, such has been our bad luck with injuries!”
