Workington Comets v Edinburgh Monarchs (League Cup) – Race-day update
The light early rain cleared as forecast before noon, having deposited less than predicted, and the track staff are now watering the track in readiness for this evening's League Cup group clash with the Edinburgh Monarchs.

The Comets are at full strength with skipper Rene Bach having had further physio on his injured shoulder back home in Denmark while young reserve Nathan Greaves came through a National League match for Cradley on Wednesday night. However, Ricky Wells is still fighting off the stomach bug that has dogged him for three days.

Meanwhile Kenneth Hansen had a guest appearance for Peterborough at Somerset last night picking up 10 points from five rides on his first ever visit to the Oak Tree Arena, while Kyle Howarth has had a busy week with Swindon followed by a guest booking for Belle Vue at Coventry last night.

Edinburgh have local favourite and former Comet Craig Cook at number one while alongside Cook the very much in-form Sam Masters forms a very potent twin strike force for the Monarchs.

With Justin Sedgmen and World Longtrack Champion Erik Riss in the side they have plenty of support although this evening they will be without German Ace Kevin Wolbert, who is back home in Germany competing in the German Pairs Championship in Meissen, and the Monarchs will operate Rider Replacement in his absence; giving additional rides to Justin Sedgmen, Erik Riss and the two reserves; Max Clegg and Robert Branford.

The teams line up as follows:
WORKINGTON 'THOMAS ARMSTRONG' COMETS:
1 Kenneth Hansen, 2 Ricky Wells, 3 Rene Bach (captain), 4 Rusty Harrison, 5 Kyle Howarth, 6 Nicki Barrett, 7 Nathan Greaves.

EDINBURGH 'BORDER ROOFING' MONARCHS:
1 Craig Cook (captain), 2 Erik Riss, 3 Rider Replacement for Kevin Wolbert, 4 Justin Sedgmen, 5 Sam Masters, 6 Max Clegg, 7 Robert Branford.

Tonight's referee is: Willie Dishington
