Comet Kyle Howarth is currently in Denmark with Team GB as they prepare for tomorrow (Thursday) night's crucial Speedway World Cup Race-off at Vojens.
Kyle has travelled to Denmark with Team GB as the 'fifth man' and is ready to represent Team GB if called upon by Team GB boss Alun Rossiter.

Having been pipped by Australia for top spot, and the automatic qualification for Saturday's World Cup Final, at King's Lynn on Monday night Team GB and the USA progressed to the race-off where they join Poland and Russia, who had to settle for the race-off after Sweden won Event 1 at Gniezno in Poland on Saturday evening.

Afterwards Rossiter said: “We're not going to Vojens just to make the numbers up, we're going there to win. We're taking the same five riders, including Kyle Howarth, and you've got to give these boys the experience.

“Kyle will learn a lot from this, and we'll look at practice and see how they all go, and then I'll make a decision after that.”

Comets team manager Tony Jackson added: "Whether Kyle gets to ride or not it will still be fantastic experience for him. Simply by being involved in the Team GB set-up and in the competition itself will give him a great insight into what goes on at that level.

"If Team GB win the race-off and progress to the World Cup Final we will be able to call upon the services of a guest to replace Kyle at both Scunthorpe and at home against Rye House on Saturday.

"If that is the case then we already have Newcastle's Lewis Kerr on standby to replace Kyle at Scunthorpe on Friday if required, with Saturday's potential guest still to be confirmed.

"However, should Team GB fail to progress from the race-off then Kyle will be back in the UK on Friday in time to race at Scunthorpe that night."
