Workington Comets v Redcar Bears (Premier League) - Race-day Update.
Tonight sees the Comets take on the Redcar Bears in a Premier League fixture at Derwent Park, with all the action getting underway at 7:00pm, with a fine and bright and warm day forecast, making perfect conditions for speedway.

Workington go into the meeting without the injured duo of Rusty Harrison and Kyle Howarth; with Rusty still troubled with shoulder and back problems while Kyle has been ruled out for seven days following his opening ride crash at Derwent Park last Saturday. Although, had he been fit, Kyle would have missed tonight's fixture in any case as he would have been in Lublin, Poland, riding as a wild card in the second of three rounds of the World under-21 Final.

The Comets have brought in Somerset's Richie Worrall as a guest to replace Kyle – after Richie rode so well at Derwent Park last Saturday for Somerset in their exciting 45-46 defeat at the hands of the Comets. Meanwhile, the Comets will again operate rider replacement for Rusty, which means that everyone except Ricky Wells and Richie Worrall is eligible to have a rider replacement ride.

Redcar have a few absentees although there is still plenty of firepower in their ranks as they have brought in Steve Worrall as a replacement for their injured number one, Lasse Bjerre, who is out of action for the rest of the season with a badly dislocated hip. This of course puts the two Worrall twins up against each other this evening!

At reserve they have brought in ex-Comet Simon Nielsen to replace another former Comet; the injured Adam Roynon, who is ruled out with a badly dislocated collarbone. Joining Simon Nielsen to form an all-Danish reserve partnership is Jan Graversen.

The side is captained this evening by the in-form Czech rider Matej Kus, while there is a first ever Derwent Park appearance for the Bears recent Danish recruit Jonas Andersen.

Unfortunately it appears that Stuart Robson will be missing this evening, having been ruled out of action following a crash while riding for Coventry in the Elite League three weeks ago. Also missing this evening is French youngster Dimitri Berge, who the Bears recently signed after he was released by Glasgow. He is racing in tomorrow's second round of the World Longtrack Final at Eernum in Holland, and as a guest is only permitted for the actual day of a Longtrack Final the Bears have not been granted a facility this evening. Coming in to replace Berge is up-and-coming Barrow-in-Furness-born Rob Shuttleworth, who rides for Coventry Storm in the National League.

Tonight's teams line up as follows:

Workington ‘Thomas Armstrong' Comets
1 Ricky Wells 7.84, 2 Rider Replacement for Rusty Harrison 5.98, 3 Rene Bach (captain) 7.55, 4 Kenneth Hansen 5.83, 5 Richie Worrall (7.22) – guest for Kyle Howarth 7.62, 6 Matt Williamson 3.00, 7 Matthew Wethers 4.09.

Redcar ‘Ecco Finishing Supplies' Bears
1 Steve Worrall (8.08) – guest for Lasse Bjerre 8.30, 2 Rider Replacement for Stuart Robson 6.50, 3 Matej Kus (captain) 6.79, 4 Rob Shuttleworth (3.00) – NL guest for Dimitri Berge 4.70, 5 Jonas Andersen 7.00, 6 Simon Nielsen (4.04) – guest for Adam Roynon 4.39, 7 Jan Graversen 4.57.
