The 2016 speedway season gets underway this weekend with the Comets holding their 'Meet the Riders' session on Friday evening followed by Press & Practice on Saturday.
The annual 'Meet the Riders & Management' Forum takes place this Friday, 18th March, at 7:30pm in Workington's Waverley Hotel and this will be followed by the Comets official 'Press & Practice' at Derwent Park the next day.
As usual, Friday evening will give the Comets supporters the opportunity to meet the 2016 Comets team and ask any questions of the Riders and Management ahead of what promises to be another very exciting season of Premier League speedway.
At least five of the 2016 Comets will be in attendance but whether Mason Campton will arrive in the UK in time to attend is still to be confirmed. Similarly, with negotiations still ongoing with regard to the seventh Comet (who is required to replace Ty Proctor in the Comets line-up) we cannot confirm his attendance at Friday evening's event at this moment in time.
Saturday then sees the Workington Comets hold their Official Press & Practice session at Derwent Park to herald the start of the 2016 Premier League season.
The on track action at the ‘Press & Practice' will get underway shortly after 12 noon, following photographs and interviews with the media.
Spectators are encouraged to come along and get their first glimpse of the 2016 Comets in action, with the grandstand being open to the public from around 11:45am. A catering van will also be available at the stadium for any supporters requiring food or hot and cold drinks.
As per previous years, admission to press & practice is to be via a donation, which this year will be in aid of the 'Cumbria Flood Appeal' – following the devastating floods that hit parts of Cumbria in December of last year.
Supporters are reminded that if they are yet to purchase their Season Ticket for 2016 they will be on sale during the afternoon of Press & Practice' and so will the popular books of tickets. Supporters are also reminded that they can of course purchase, and take away with them on the day, a season ticket now that photographs are no longer required.
