Workington were again represented at the third annual Northern Clubs Media Day, which took place at Newcastle's Brough Park Stadium today (Monday 21st March).
On this occasion the Comets were represented by Ricky Wells and Kenneth Hansen who, as well as talking to the cameras of BBC Look North and ITV, took the opportunity to get in some extra laps of practice around Brough Park ahead of the Comets visit there this coming Sunday (6:30pm start) in the second leg of the Ian Thomas Shield.
Also in attendance were Comets co-promoters Steve Whitehead and Tony Jackson while Newcastle and Redcar each had riders and promoters in attendance. But, for the first time since the event started in 2014, Berwick were unable to attend owing to prior commitments; although they did send two of their Northern Junior League team members along to represent the club.
The launch event was the brainchild of the late Bob Tasker, whose GRT Media company filmed the meetings at Newcastle and Berwick every week as well as attending the Comets matches at Derwent Park when other commitments allowed.
Although Bob sadly passed away in late October of last year it is a fitting testimony to him that this pre-season launch day concept has continued and that it remains a valued addition to the early season calendar of the northern clubs.
