A battling performance at Brough Park saw the Comets emerge with a lot of credit as they went down to a two-point defeat in the first leg of the Ian Thomas Shield.
This was despite Kenneth Hansen and Adam Roynon being in the wars through no fault of their own, however the biggest blow was the loss of Mason Campton following an opening lap spill in heat 3 when he was in the lead (see picture).
