The Comets picked up their first away league points of the season with a battling draw at Rye House on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon.
That gave the Comets two away league points to put on the board but if the Rockets hadn't hit back with a 5-1 in the final heat it could have been three. But, nevertheless, it was another excellent team effort from the Comets.

The opening heat was re-run twice, after Ricky was adjudged to have jumped the start on each occasion but at the third time of asking Edward Kennett was away and led from tape to flag, but with Ricky second and Rasmus third it was a shared heat.

Ben Morley won another shared heat in heat 2 before Mason won heat 3, and with Kenneth third we took the lead, which we held when heat 4 was also shared as Stuart Robson led Claus and Matt home.

A 5-1 from Ricky and Rasmus put us 18-12 in front after five heats before the Rockets cut that lead with a 4-2 in the next, with Kennett leading all the way.

However, Mason claimed his second race win in heat 7 and with Kenneth following him home the 5-1 put us 25-17 in front although that was soon cancelled out when the Rockets claimed a 5-1 of their own in heat 8.

Then a Rye House 4-2 in heat 9 and a 5-1 from Kennett and Lykke in heat 10, after Mason got out of shape and hit the fence when in second place, suddenly put Rye House 31-29 in front for the first, and as it turned out, only time in the match.

But two successive Comets 5-1's from Ricky and Rasmus in haet 11 and then from Adam and Kenneth in heat 12 put the Comets 6 points in front once more. This gap was reduced in heat 13 when Kennett claimed his fourth race win while Stuart Robson was able to split Ricky and Claus.

Mason claimed his third race win in heat 14 with Matt just failing to catch Morley in the race to the chequered flag to make the scores Rye House 40 Workington 44 going into the final race.

The Rockets had choice of gates and picked 2 & 4 with Kennett blasting from gate 4 to lead all the way while Ricky tried everything to pass Stuart Robson; but on an ever-slickening track there was simply not enough grip to do so. Meanwhile Mason had a mechanical problem on the opening lap and was forced to retire.
