Workington Comets 55 Plymouth Devils 37 (Premier League)
For the second successive week the Comets raced to a 55-37 victory at Derwent Park, this time defeating the Plymouth Devils to take three more league points.

However, on this occasion it was with a six-man side as Danish rider Rasmus Jensen was missing as a result of a crash in Friday evening's Danish Final at Holsted, with the Comets operating rider replacement to cover his absence, which produced 6+1.

But, with skipper Ricky Wells (pictured above in front in Heat 13) leading the side by example with a 15-point maximum, and setting the fastest time of the season so far in the opening heat, the Comets were always in control of the match; although it wasn't until the last third of the meeting that they really stamped their authority on proceedings.

Plymouth arrived at Derwent Park with three guests in their line-up; former rider Ben Barker, replacing Brady Kurtz, Matej Kus replacing Jack Holder and Carl Wilkinson replacing Stefan Nielsen.

Kurtz and Holder were racing in Denmark as part of Australia's under-21 World Team Cup side while Nielsen was racing for Swindon in an Elite League fixture at Leicester.

After ten heats Plymouth only trailed by eight points but three Comets 5-1's in the closing five heats saw the Comets run out comfortable winners; with the match won after heat 13 and any chance the Devils had of gaining a match point gone after heat 14.

Ricky was joined by Claus Vissing, Kenneth Hansen and Adam Roynon in reaching double figures while the top-scorer for Plymouth was Todd Kurtz with 8 points.

A Comets rider took the chequered flag eleven times with every Comet except Matt Williamson recording at least one race win while the Devils four race winners came from four different riders; Kyle Newman, Matej Kus, Todd Kurtz and Sam Simota.

Heats 8 and 11 provided the best racing; with Newman and Kenneth battling it out in heat 8 before Newman eventually took the chequered flag and then, in heat 11, Barker chased Adam throughout before making a big last corner dash around the outside as they came off the final bend, but it wasn't quite enough as Adam held on to second place by the narrowest of margins.

The Devils then gave Kus a tactical ride in heat 12, where he came second behind Kenneth to gain two extra points but 5-1's from Ricky and Claus in heats 13 and 15 finished the evening off very nicely for the Comets; with Ricky getting the celebratory bumps after heat 15 as a reward for his five-ride maximum - only his second one ever!

Ricky Wells 15, Kenneth Hansen 12, Claus Vissing 11+3, Adam Roynon 10+2, Mason Campton 5+2, Matt Williamson 2, R/R for Rasmus Jensen.

Todd Kurtz 8, Matej Kus (G) 7, Sam Simota 6, Ben Barker (G) 6, Carl Wilkinson (G) 5+2, Kyle Newman 4+1, Ellis Perks 1+1.
