The Comets roar back into action this evening at Derwent Park (7:00pm start) with a Premier League clash with the so far unbeaten Somerset Rebels.
The Workington Comets take to the track again tonight (Saturday 25th June) at 7:00pm for what is the Comets first team appearance after what became a fourteen-day break in their fixtures due to postponed away fixtures at Newcastle and Peterborough.
The visit of the Somerset Rebels for this evening's league clash at Derwent Park promises to be one of the matches of the season; with the Rebels being the only unbeaten side in the Premier League; having won all seven of their Premier League fixtures to date.
Six weeks ago the Rebels came out on top by a two-point margin, 46-44, when the two sides met at Derwent Park in the Knockout Cup and in doing so brought the Comets twenty-month unbeaten home record to an end. The Comets are now seeking to avenge that defeat as well as claiming the honour of becoming the first team to defeat the Rebels in the league this season.
Comets owner Laura Morgan said: “On that evening of their KO Cup victory machine problems for Kenneth Hansen and Mason Campton cost us dear and we are certainly out for revenge this Saturday in what promises to be a cracker of a meeting.
"But, with former Comets Josh Grajczonek and Charles Wright in their side, who obviously know our track well, we know that the outcome could be in doubt until the very last race.”
The two sides line up as follows:
Workington 'Thomas Armstrong' Comets
1 Ricky Wells (captain), 2 Mason Campton, 3 Kenneth Hansen, 4 Rasmus Jensen, 5 Claus Vissing, 6 Adam Roynon, 7 Matt Williamson.
Somerset 'Cases' Rebels
1 Josh Grajczonek (captain), 2 Bradley Wilson-Dean, 3 Charles Wright, 4 Paul Starke, 5 Rohan Tungate, 6 Jake Allen, 7 Zach Wajtknecht.
Referee: Mick Bates.
