Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the Comets having a display stand at the annual Cockermouth Show, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, and there they will be doing all that they can to spread the word about the club.
“We try to attend these well-established and well-attended local events whenever we can, although invariably many of them clash with our own fixtures,” said club owner Laura Morgan.
“However, this year's Cockermouth show has fallen just right and we will be having a big push to try and get as many extra people to attend the following day's attractive clash with Peterborough as we can.
The Panthers now include locally-based former Comet Craig Cook in their line-up.
“I still believe there are many people local to Workington that have never been to speedway, even after being there over 17 years in this era, and I am equally convinced that if you can just get some of them through the door in the first place then many of them will love it.
“With that in mind our attendance at shows such as this can only help to spread the word to a potentially whole new audience that a night out at Derwent Park is a great night out for the whole family."
