The Comets will race in Saturday's second leg of the Border Trophy at Berwick without reserve Matt Williamson.
Instead, Matt will be partnering Cumbrian sensation Dan Bewley at King's Lynn, where they will be representing Belle Vue in the National League Pairs Championship.

Replacing Matt at Berwick on Saturday will be former Berwick rider Mitchell Davey, who currently rides for Coventry in the National League.

Coventry, along with Stoke, are the only two National League clubs not represented in the Pairs competition that night.

Under normal circumstances Mitchell is not permitted to guest for a number seven in PL fixtures, but as this is just a challenge fixture it is permitted.

Similarly, had this been a Premier League fixture instead of a challenge match the Comets would have had first call on Matt's services on Saturday; as the National League Riders' Championship, which takes place this year on 17th September, is the only NL fixture that takes priority over a PL fixture.

The Comets, who currently hold the 'Border Trophy' go into Saturday's clash at Shielfield Park defending a 15-point advantage from April's curtailed first leg - which was abandoned after ten heats due to rain, with the Comets leading by a 37-22 score.
