The Cumberland Open Championship line-up is beginning to take shape with the announcement of the first three visiting riders.
The seven 2017 Comets will spearhead the line up, but with a further nine places to fill a good balance of well established SGB Championship stars and up and coming younger riders will complete the event.

We are very pleased to welcome back last years Comets captain Ricky Wells as our first rider. Ricky established himself as a firm fans favourite over his three years as a Comet before making the move north of the border to the Edinburgh Monarchs for 2017.

The next rider in the line up is 28 year-old Danish star Nickolai Klindt. Having first burst onto the British scene in 2008 with Wolverhampton Nicolai spent last season with Leicester, and initially doubling-up with Scunthorpe, Nicolai has joined the Poole Pirates for 2017.

The third rider to be announced is another former Comet Nathan Greaves. Nathan was part of the Comets side in 2015 and produced some very gutsy and determined displays before a broken leg ruled him out of the team mid-season. Since then he spent last season with his local club, the Sheffield Tigers.
