Comets v Ipswich Witches (SGB Championship) - Saturday 27th May at 7pm.
Tonight at Derwent Park, with a 7:00pm start, in what promises to be a highly entertaining fixture; the Comets take on the Ipswich Witches, who were many pundits tip for the title before the season started.

The Witches are led by reigning British Champion Danny King and, with their powerful top three also consisting of a pair of Australian riders; the very much in-form Rory Schlein and Justin Sedgmen, the Comets will certainly have their hands full.

Comets owner Laura Morgan said: “With the Witches having such a strong top three this has all the ingredients to be one of the matches of the season at Derwent Park.

“We gave a great performance at home last weekend to defeat table-topping Edinburgh and we will definitely have to reproduce that form this week to see off Ipswich, who are certainly showing why they were many people's tip for silverware this season.

“But, as we all keep saying, there are no easy matches in the SGB Championship and this year's condensed league of ten teams is certainly providing great entertainment for the supporters week after week!”

Sedgmen joined the Witches at the start of May as a replacement for broken wrist victim Nico Covatti in a move which Comets team manager Tony Jackson feels could have even made them stronger.

“The addition of Sedgmen to the Witches side following the unfortunate loss of Covatti hasn't really affected them at all and with his experience the former Edinburgh rider could prove to have strengthened the side in the long run.

“He is a current Belle Vue team-mate of Craig Cook's so there will be plenty of on-track rivalry there just to add a bit of extra spice to the match, while the clashes between Craig and Danny King should be worth the admission money alone.”

Filling the second string berths for the Witches are Poole rider Kyle Newman and another in-form Australian rider, Cameron Heeps. While at reserve the Witches have recently signed 2015 Comet Nathan Greaves as a replacement for broken arm victim Danyon Hume.

The Comets go into tonight's meeting at full-strength and for recent signing James Sarjeant it is a chance to face his previous club early in his Comets career, as he spent last season with the Suffolk side and then rode as a temporary replacement for the injured Kyle Newman earlier in the season before joining the Comets.
