Craig Cook is now just five rides away from being a Grand Prix rider in 2018 after a stunning victory in the GP semi-final qualifier at Terenzano in Italy last night!
Having won his quarter final at Lonigo last month Cookie made a second successful visit to Italy by racing to 13 points from his five rides to head the qualifiers into the GP Challenge, which takes place at Togliatti in Russia on Saturday 19th August.
Afterwards Cook said: “I didn't really know what to expect, especially with it probably being the tougher of the two semi-finals.
“I'm just taking it one step at a time and this is another step out of the way. I'm five races away from being a Grand Prix rider, so I'm really pleased with the result.
“Anything is possible now. I'm confident and enjoying my speedway, but at the same time I know things can change pretty quickly.”
Second behind Cookie was Czech rider Vaclav Milik - the wild card that did so well in last weekend's Czech GP, while current GP rider Matej Zagar was third after beating Przemyslaw Pawlicki in a run-off for third place.
Meanwhile former Comet Peter Kildemand, who was a Comets team-mate of Cookies in 2010, finished 5th on 9 points to also make it through to the GP Challenge.
