Cookie and Ty in the Pairs at Sheffield this Sunday!
This Sunday afternoon (3:00pm start) sees Craig Cook and Ty Proctor represent the Comets in the re-arranged Championship Pairs at Sheffield.
The event had originally been scheduled to take place at Somerset back in July; on the night before the British Grand Prix at Cardiff. However, as has so often been the case this season, the weather intervened and the meeting was postponed just over one hour before the scheduled start time.
But, with the Championship currently being predominantly a northern-based league, it made sense to re-stage it at a more northerly venue so all roads now lead to Sheffield's Owlerton Stadium this Sunday afternoon.
With both groups looking well balanced the Comets pairing line up in Group A along with Glasgow, Peterborough, Ipswich and Scunthorpe - with the top two highest scoring pairings (using the 4,3,2,0 scoring system) progressing to the sudden-death semi-finals.
The Comets have an excellent record in this competition, with their last win coming in 2012 when Rene Bach and Adam Roynon triumphed at Somerset, so hopefully Craig and Ty can add to that impressive roll of honour.
All ten Championship clubs are represented and the pairings line up as follows:
Glasgow (Richard Lawson & Aaron Summers)
Peterborough (Chris Harris & Ulrich Ostergaard)
Ipswich (Rory Schlein & Danny King)
Workington (Craig Cook & Ty Proctor)
Scunthorpe (Lewis Kerr & Josh Auty)
Edinburgh (Sam Masters & Ricky Wells)
Newcastle (Steve Worrall & Stuart Robson)
Sheffield (Kyle Howarth & Lasse Bjerre)
Redcar (Ben Barker & Charles Wright)
Berwick (Kevin Doolan & David Howe)
