A mixed weekend for the Comets!

The Comets had mixed fortunes over a weekend that saw them in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Friday evening saw them just miss out on a match point when a fighting display saw them go down 50-43 at in-form Peterborough.
Then, Saturday evening at Derwent Park saw them defeat Newcastle 46-44 in a tense last heat decider after skipper Craig Cook had been forced to withdraw with an injured right foot following a first turn crash in heat 13 (just after the above photo was taken) where he became the meat in the Robert Lambert/Steve Worrall sandwich! This meeting brought the curtain down on the Comets 2017 home campaign.
Finally, following Craig's withdrawal due to injury Mason Campton was drafted into the Comets pairing to partner Ty Proctor as a tough Championship Pairs contest at Sheffield saw them eliminated at the group stage as home club Sheffield went on to win a tense final against Redcar that ended with a horrific crash between former Comets Kyle Howarth and Charles Wright on the last bend.
