Comets skipper Craig Cook has confirmed this afternoon that he is still not able to resume racing tomorrow in the Comets SGB Championship fixture at Newcastle.
Glasgow's Aaron Summers, who was already at the meeting riding as a guest for Redcar in the second part of the double-header, quickly agreed to step into the vacant team place at short notice.
This means that the Comets will now go into the fixture with three guests:
Aaron Summers for Cook, Edinburgh's Max Clegg for the injured Matt Williamson and Ryan MacDonald for Rob Shuttleworth.
Additionally the Comets will be operating Rider Replacement for the injured Thomas Jorgensen.
Comets team manager Tony Jackson said: "It is never ideal using a guest but using three guests and rider replacement is much worse obviously!
"However, we are where we are at this moment in time as a result of injury and illness and we just have to get on with it!
"We are grateful to Aaron, Max and Ryan for agreeing to help us out as at this time of year many riders simply do not want to accept guest bookings.
By now many of the overseas riders have returned home or riders have packed their equipment away for the winter or they have simply have had enough of speedway for the year, especially if they are carrying a knock; so getting guests is even harder than usual when you get into late October when the weather and track surfaces are far from ideal."
"We will obviously head to Brough Park with the intention of doing our best but with a makeshift side against a full-strength Diamonds side it promises to be tough!"
