Comets Press Day Report

The Comets held a very successful Press and Practice today as the 2018 Comets took the opportunity to blow away some winter cobwebs.
Unlike last year's press & practice the sun shone all day and after a photo session the riders took to the track just a couple of minutes after 12 noon.

First onto the track was returning Comet Rene Bach who, after a couple of tentative laps, looked like he had never been away. He was gradually followed on track by the remaining six riders as they all took the track several times trying different lines and making adjustments to their machinery as the session continued.

However, skipper Ty Proctor got a closer inspection of Derwent Park than he intended when he slipped off on turn four on one of his outings. But, no harm was done and he was soon back out on track.

The first to arrive at Derwent Park was new signing Nicolai Klindt; who reached Poole on Friday evening only for the meeting to be postponed shortly after 5:00pm so he then headed straight up to Workington and arrived at Derwent Park just after 4:00am!

Club owner Laura Morgan was happy with what she saw on track, and in the pits: "All the lads seemed to get back into the swing of things pretty quickly and got in as many laps as they wanted.

"They all looked fast, although you can never really tell until you are in a proper meeting of course. Meanwhile off track they all appeared to be getting on very well in the pits and talking to each other about bike set ups and the like so yes, it was a very positive day all round; and even the weather was in our favour!"

Team manager Tony Jackson was also satisfied with what he saw.

"Everybody seemed happy with everything and I was particularly pleased to see how the three new team members; Nicolai, Dan and Kyle, settled into things.

"Kyle has obviously ridden around Derwent Park many times but not so in the case of Nicolai and surprisingly Dan too, despite being local. But everyone looked fine and now we can't wait for the real action to start."

Border TV also attended the press and practice session and the footage will be transmitted later in the week ahead of the season opening Cumberland Open Championship, which takes place this coming Saturday, 31st March at 7:00pm.
