The Comets finally get their Championship Shield group fixtures underway this evening when the Edinburgh Monarchs come to town.
Leading the Monarchs charge tonight is former Comet Ricky Wells while at reserve, and no doubt keen to score points against his former club, is another former Comet Matt Williamson.

Second in the Monarchs averages is a rider who always goes well around Derwent Park, German international and former double World Longtrack Champion Erik Riss, while completing the side are Erik's brother Mark Riss, two newcomers to the UK scene; Max Ruml (USA) and Joel Andersson (Sweden), and at reserve, second season Aussie Josh Pickering will partner Matt Williamson.

The Comets have Somerset's New Zealand Champion Bradley Wilson-Dean at reserve as a guest for broken wrist victim Mason Campton while Sheffield's Charles Wright comes in as a guest at number 3 to replace skipper Ty Proctor; whose track return has been delayed by the outstanding delivery of the final bit of paperwork required to accompany his already approved visa.

Both Ty and Mason will be in attendance this evening to support their team-mates in what promises to be an exciting start to the Comets competitive campaign.

The action gets underway at 7:00pm.
