For the second successive night the Comets and the Bandits fought out a 45-45 draw in their Championship Shield fixture!
The Comets made a dream start by taking a 5-1 in the opening heat while guest for the night Ashley Morris (replacing knee injury victim Bradley Wilson-Dean) won heat 2 to maintain the advantage.

Berwick's Dany Gappmaier continued his lightning quick starts to win heat 3 while Dan Bewley was able to split the Bandits pairing to take second place as Ty brought up the rear.

Dan then won the fourth heat when introduced as a rider replacement while Ashley Morris held on to third place to deny Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen a point and restore the Comets four-point advantage.

However, heat 5 saw Rene and Rasmus unable to repeat their heat 1 heroics with Rasmus going into the tapes and earning an exclusion, and being replaced by Ashley for the re-start as, with passing clearly at a premium, the 15-metre handicap was considered to be too much to overcome.

But, with Gappmaier and David Howe speeding from the tapes the Bandits raced to a 5-1 to level the scores with Ashley coming home third and last placed Rene retiring on the final bend.

Having missed out on his previous outing due to a tapes exclusion Rasmus was introduced as a rider replacement in the next, which he led from start to finish to keep the scores level at 18-18 before Ty and Dan combined in heat 7 to take maximum points and restore the Comets four-point advantage.

However, that lead proved to be short-lived when in heat 8 Kevin Doolan and Jye Etheridge led throughout while third placed Ashley shed a rear chain on the back straight of the second lap as the scores were levelled once again.

The ninth heat saw the Gappmaier and Howe pairing race to their second successive 5-1 to put the Bandits ahead for the first time in the match; and that lead was extended in the next when Aaron Summers got the better of Ty while Dan, after wins in his two previous outings, came home in last place.

Heat 11 was stopped after half a lap when Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen and Rasmus clashed on the back straight of the opening lap with the pair very fortunate to stay aboard their machines; but with the Bandit earning an exclusion from referee Christina Turnbull.

The ensuing Comets 5-1 in the re-run saw the Bandits lead reduced to just 2 points then, after Etheridge was excluded for falling on turn two after trying to round Ashley in heat 12, a Comets 4-2 from Ty and Ashley in the re-run levelled the scores once again at 36 points apiece.

Coming in as a rider replacement Ty then won a shared heat 13 and Ashley led all the way to win a shared heat 14, after Dan was slowed by Howe as he entered turn 1, to make it all square going into the final heat.

This saw Ty lead from the gate while Rasmus almost got into third place on turn two before just being beaten out of the corner by Gappmaier as the match ended in a draw for the second successive evening!
