Management's Disappointment Following Cancellation
Mon 14 May 2018 by Comets Press Office
Management bitterly disappointed having to can extraordinary meeting
Following the postponement of next Saturday's meeting against Scunthorpe (19th), Management decided to try and organise an extraordinary meeting to maintain some continuity at home for supporters and riders.

Owner, Laura Morgan explained, "All these breaks in the fixtures aren't doing speedway any favours at all. Riders aren't getting enough consistent track time at home and supporters fast get upset when there are so many gaps, and understandably so! We decided to try and put together a Pairs meeting similar to the one we did in May 2016. Twelve riders, six pairs with prizes right down the finishing order. Unfortunately there are six Championship teams running on Saturday plus riders going to Poland on Sunday so rider availability became a nightmare, then of course there is also the Royal wedding and the FA Cup to contend with so basically the whole thing became an impossibility I'm afraid".

The Comet's will next be at Derwent Park on Saturday June 2nd when they meet Glasgow in the Championship Shield.
