Back ‘home' with his local club for 2017, former Moto-X rider Craig tried his hand at speedway in 2008 and took to it like a duck to water, going on to make his Comets debut in 2009 while also gaining experience with Buxton in the third tier of the sport and claiming the Conference League Riders' Championship that season too. But, after two years at Workington he was transferred to Edinburgh where by his own admission riding the smaller track made him a better all round rider.
In his five seasons with the Monarchs he helped Edinburgh claim a multitude of titles and trophies while also winning the Premier League Riders' Championship at Sheffield in 2012. During his time with the Monarchs he also ‘doubled-up' with Belle Vue in the Elite League with considerable success while also earning wild card berths in the Cardiff GP as a result of his excellent, if somewhat unlucky, finishing position in the British Championship.
His plan for last season was to race for Belle Vue while trying to break into Poland. However a lack of meetings and Belle Vue's delayed start saw him join Peterborough in mid-season in what was a frustrating year for ‘Cookie' although a silver medal finish in the World Cup Final at Belle Vue was an obvious season highlight.
